How should you read the information shown by Ipzy?

A public IP address identifies the exit point of your connection on the Internet. It may be your home router, a mobile network, a VPN server, a company network or an address shared by several subscribers. Ipzy shows this information together with the country, approximate city, Internet provider, ASN and time zone when those data points are available.

IP geolocation is still an estimate. It depends on network databases, operator declarations, routing and sometimes the use of a VPN or proxy. A displayed city may therefore represent your provider's network point rather than your exact location. To avoid overinterpreting the result, each Ipzy guide explains the limits of IP data and the settings that can change what you see.

When should you run another IP test?

Run another test after changing network, enabling a VPN, restarting your router, switching from Wi-Fi to mobile data or changing DNS settings. These changes may alter the visible address, provider shown or approximate city. If you compare two results, note the time, device used and VPN state so you do not mix several possible causes.

An unexpected result is not always an error. An IP may be shared through CGNAT, located at a regional router, announced by a hosting provider or replaced by the address of a VPN server. Ipzy guides are here to put those signals back into their technical context.
